When Kohler was announced as Manchester United’s first ever sleeve sponsor this year, many would have asked: “Kohler who?”

Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, Kohler Co. is one of America’s oldest and largest privately held companies comprised of more than 33,000 associates and 48 manufacturing locations worldwide,

Kohler also has a number of well-established businesses in the UK – like Mira Showers – as well as a regional head office. Based in Gloucestershire, Kohler EMEA support Kohler companies based in the region in countries such as France, Italy and Morocco.

At the end of 2015, Kohler EMEA’s Ethics communications committee were challenged to raise the profile of ethics across the region. By early 2017, they’d been awarded a prestigious Lotus Award, received global company-wide recognition and been nominated as one of the President & CEO’s “Rock Stars.”


  • A short film challenged the notion of ethics being a dull and uninteresting topic by sharing stories fun activities that occurred across the region.
  • A survey invited associates to share what mattered to them – the target was 100 responses, over 750 replied.
  • ‘Win a Day Off Work’ was an attention-grabbing competition that offered a day to do something ethics-related funded by the company.

Our internal communication plan created spikes in activity across the calendar year. Activities were new and innovative activities including their very first Annual Ethics Report delivered in January 2017. Everything was created in English, French and Italian to ensure messages landed, no matter where they were read or heard.

To win a Lotus Award for their work capped off an exciting year for Kohler EMEA’s Ethics communications committee – something they were thrilled with as it delivered results way beyond their expectation.
